To install this maps, your MMI must be patched – otherwise map will not working!.
If you haven’t got it already patched, please take a look here (click) – this will give you lifetime map license and apple carplay / android auto function – please make sure, your firmware it’s compatible!.

Bought “full” mmiupdate preinstalled on a “memory card” shipped to me…..& did not get the maps????? Had to go back and buy the map updates separate. Not sure I should have paid again. MMI update was a bit tricky but did work as there are many many different cars and options that you dont need and bypass. Be brave, reread the instructions over and over.. the green menu was bypassed in my case, so that cost me a day or two trying to get it to work but then,, to realized I did not need it for my car and the “permissions” to edit were included in a hidden script already..and to just go forwards. Duhhh. Two months later, off and on, still trying to get maps to work but not on the mem card that was shipped??? SO….I decided to repurchase only the “Map updates” and download them,,and installed correctly but only on another mem card, but had to move the 12 expanded 7zip files to the root directory (usa maps) on the card for the car/mmi to see them. Not via usb or over internet… but as documented, so dont waste time on usb or over the air update attempts. Used a 32gb mem card for the almost 11gb of data. Otherwise very satisfied with the 2016 A7 mmi, “apple play” update, and finally map updates. Going from 2015 maps to 2025 maps moved me back to the new world, and away from the Dinosaurs and volcanos. Maps are crisp, sharp, and probably same source as a new car… as I compare them to my other vehicles. The “apple play” also is a big win and hurrah but you must be on the usb cable for it to work. You do have to bump the mmi to move around the screen on the apple play as there is NO touch screen on my 2016 A7 mmi. So just turn the knob and it will migrate around the screen on your apple play…the push to select. I might try a usb dongle later to see it I can bypass the cable, but thats another day. I am using the left usb port on the console only. And it does charge as well as connect. Right usb port appears to be a charge only port. (usa car). Over thinking this will get you in trouble… { : )
