Script installation instructions

  1. Prepare the SD Card:
    • Download the latest version of our script from the HERE.
    • Use a full-size SD card with a minimum capacity of 8GB (avoid using microSD cards).
    • Format the SD card to FAT32.
    • Extract the contents of the 7zip archive onto the SD card, ensuring that the metainfo2.txt file is placed in the root directory of the SD card.
  2. Install Script on Your MMI Unit:
    • Insert the prepared SD card into the SD1 slot (the left slot) of your MMI unit.
    • The installation should start automatically within 60 seconds. If it doesn’t, access the Red Engineering Menu (REM) by pressing the appropriate key combination for your vehicle model, navigate to “Software Update,” select the SD card as the source, and initiate the update.
    • The unit will reboot multiple times during the installation process, which typically takes about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Enter the Green Engineering Menu (GEM):
    • After the installation, access the GEM using the specific key combination for your Audi model. Note that it may take up to 5 minutes after a cold boot for the GEM to become accessible.
  4. Convert the Unit to European Firmware:
    • In the GEM, navigate to =>mib<= > advanced_settings > eu_conversion.
    • Select the option to convert the unit to EU.
    • MMI will do ALL magic and prompt with information to reboot MMI and run conversion AGAIN!
  5. Update the Firmware:
    • Ensure you have the appropriate European firmware version on a separate SD card. The firmware version should match your current version but with the region code changed from ‘US’ to ‘ER’ (e.g., MHI2_US_AU57x_xxxx to MHI2_ER_AU57x_xxxx).
    • Insert the SD card containing the European firmware into the MMI unit.
    • In the GEM, navigate to advanced_settings > swdl_fw_updates and enable “user defined SWDL.” as well as “ignore region and variant”
    • Exit the GEM and enter the REM. Go to “User defined,” change FC2H37xE to [N]and other option to [Y], and start the update.
  6. Apply Necessary Patches:
    • Our script contain also necessary patches which need to apply after firmware installation
    • Insert the Script SD card back into the MMI unit and reinstall it.
    • In the GEM, navigate to patch_unit_aio and select “PATCH NOW: Patch | add FECs | enable CP/AA coding | and more” to apply the patches.
  7. Finalize the Conversion:
    • Perform a factory reset of the MMI settings to ensure all changes take effect and to prevent potential glitches.
    • After the reset, you can proceed to install European maps – link to howto.

Important Notes:

  • Always ensure your car’s battery is fully charged or connected to an external power source during these procedures to prevent power failures.
  • Using high-quality, properly formatted SD cards is crucial to avoid installation issues.

By carefully following these steps, you can successfully convert your Audi MMI MIB2 system to support European firmware and features.
