Rest of World is not one universal configuration. The correct product depends on the installed MMI software train, navigation region and required update. Check the complete software version before ordering.

What does Rest of World mean for Audi MMI?

Rest of World, commonly shortened to ROW, is used for navigation data covering multiple markets outside the main European and North American map regions. Available coverage can include Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Singapore, South Africa and other supported countries, depending on the selected map package.

ROW navigation coverage does not mean that every firmware package must contain ROW in its software name. Firmware and navigation maps are separate components. Some compatible Audi A6 vehicles use an EU or ER firmware train together with a ROW navigation database.

Choose the correct type of Audi A6 update

Complete bundle pack

Choose a bundle when the vehicle needs both the appropriate firmware and ROW navigation maps. Bundle packages can also contain activation files, the required map fix and installation tools applicable to the supported MMI system.

Maps-only update

Choose a navigation map product when the correct and sufficiently recent firmware is already installed. Maps-only packages do not include a firmware update unless the product page explicitly states otherwise.

Single firmware

Choose an individual firmware product when only the MMI software requires an update. Firmware does not change the navigation map region by itself and normally does not include map files.

ROW to Europe conversion

Choose a conversion package only when the supported MMI system is being deliberately converted from its existing ROW configuration to European firmware and navigation data. A conversion is different from a regular firmware or map update.

Supported MMI families

Software prefix MMI system Available product types
BNav_ MMI 3G Basic Firmware and compatible update packages
HNav_ MMI 3G High Firmware, ROW maps, bundles and conversions
HN+_ / HN+R_ MMI 3G Plus Firmware, ROW maps, bundles and conversions
MHI2_ MIB2 High Compatible firmware, maps and feature packages
Compatibility warning: Do not select an update only because the vehicle is an Audi A6 or was originally sold in a ROW country. The complete MMI software prefix, current firmware version and navigation region must all be checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rest of World one universal Audi map region?

No. ROW packages can cover multiple supported markets, but compatibility and country coverage depend on the selected navigation database and MMI system.

Can a ROW Audi A6 use EU or ER firmware?

Yes. Firmware and navigation regions are separate. Some ROW vehicles use an EU or ER firmware train together with ROW navigation maps.

Does a firmware update include navigation maps?

Normally no. Choose a bundle if both firmware and navigation maps are required, unless a specific product clearly states that map files are included.

Is a region conversion the same as a normal update?

No. A conversion deliberately changes the supported regional configuration and requires the correct conversion package and installation procedure.
