Audi A6 MMI Firmware for Rest of World Vehicles

Choose an individual firmware package for a compatible Audi A6 equipped with MIB2 High, MMI 3G Plus, MMI 3G High or MMI 3G Basic. Firmware compatibility is determined by the complete installed software train rather than the vehicle’s map region alone.

MIB2 High

MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1 with wired CarPlay, Android Auto and a lifetime map licence already integrated.

MMI 3G Plus

HN+R_EU_AU_P1001 for compatible Audi A6 systems using the HN+R_EU_AU firmware family.

MMI 3G High

HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1 for compatible MMI 3G High systems identified by an HNav_ prefix.

MMI 3G Basic

BNav_EU_K0260_1_D1 for compatible MMI 3G Basic units identified by a BNav_ prefix.

Firmware region and navigation region are separate. A ROW-market Audi A6 may use an EU or ER firmware train together with ROW navigation maps. Match the complete software prefix before ordering.

Available Audi A6 firmware packages

These products update the software running the MMI infotainment unit. They do not update engine control software and do not change engine performance, fuel economy or driving dynamics.

MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1 for MIB2 High

This prepared All-in-One package is exclusively for compatible units with a software version beginning with MHI2_ER_AU57x_. Wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto and the lifetime navigation map licence are already incorporated into the firmware.

No separate patch or activation script is required. The BOSE amplifier update is already disabled inside the supplied package. Two compatible factory USB ports are required for CarPlay and Android Auto.

HN+R_EU_AU_P1001 for MMI 3G Plus

P1001 is the available firmware for compatible Audi A6 MMI 3G Plus systems using the HN+R_EU_AU_ software train. This is a firmware product and does not contain ROW navigation maps.

HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1 for MMI 3G High

K0257_6_D1 is intended for compatible MMI 3G High systems with an HNav_ software version. Navigation maps, map activation and the ROW MAP FIX are not included with this firmware-only product.

BNav_EU_K0260_1_D1 for MMI 3G Basic

K0260_1_D1 is intended for compatible MMI 3G Basic units with a software version beginning with BNav_. It updates the MMI software but does not include navigation map files.

Firmware-only update or complete ROW bundle?

Choose single firmware when:

  • Only the MMI software requires an update.
  • The correct navigation database is already installed.
  • You already have any additional map activation components you need.

Choose a bundle when:

  • You require both firmware and ROW navigation maps.
  • You need the complete update sequence and supporting tools.
  • You want the relevant activation components included together.

Amplifier protection: During applicable MMI 3G firmware installations, deselect the BOSE component if it appears in the update selection. Bang & Olufsen is safe. K3663_1 already has the BOSE update disabled within the supplied package.

Before starting the firmware update

  1. Record the complete current software version.
  2. Confirm that the selected product uses the same software family.
  3. Read the supplied installation instructions.
  4. Maintain stable vehicle voltage throughout the installation.
  5. Do not interrupt the update or remove the SD card while it is running.

Frequently asked questions

Can a ROW Audi A6 use EU or ER firmware?

Yes. Firmware and navigation map regions are separate. Some ROW vehicles use EU or ER firmware while retaining ROW navigation maps.

Do these firmware products include ROW maps?

No. Navigation maps must be obtained separately or as part of the appropriate complete bundle.

Does K3663_1 need a separate activation patch?

No. Wired CarPlay, Android Auto and the lifetime map licence are already built into the supplied firmware package.

Can I select firmware using only the Audi A6 year?

No. Compatibility must be confirmed using the complete MMI software version and software train.
