How to verify compatibility

Open Version Information in the MMI settings and check the complete software designation.

It must begin with:

HN+US_AU3G

For example:

HN+_US_AU3G_P0xxx

The remaining characters identify the currently installed firmware release and may be different.

Enter the complete current firmware version in the product field when ordering. Do not identify compatibility only from the Audi model, production year or appearance of the MMI controls.

North America region

This bundle is intended for original North American HN+ systems used in:

• United States
• Canada
• Mexico

It does not convert European firmware to the North American region or North American firmware to Europe.

Compatible Audi models

The HN+_US_AU3G_ system was installed primarily in selected North American versions of:

• Audi A4, S4 and RS4 B8/B8.5
• Audi A5, S5 and RS5 8T/8F
• Audi Q5 and SQ5 8R
• Audi Q7 4L

This product is not intended for A6, A7, A8 or Q3 systems using the separate HN+R_US_AU_ firmware branch.

Audi used different infotainment systems within the same model range. Always check the complete software train before ordering.

HN+_US_AU3G_K0942_6 firmware

The bundle includes the latest available firmware for compatible North American HN+ systems:

The firmware can improve:

• MMI system stability
• Menu response

• Navigation database installation and operation

The firmware update cannot repair faulty hardware. Persistent MMI restarts, black screens, sound faults or MOST bus errors should be diagnosed before installation.

Important Bose and Bang & Olufsen information

If the vehicle has a Bose sound system, the Bose component must be deselected during the firmware update.

Do not install the Bose component update. Incorrectly updating it can cause loss of sound or require additional coding or configuration.

Vehicles equipped with Bang & Olufsen are safe. The Bang & Olufsen component does not need to be deselected.

Verify the installed sound system before starting.

North America maps 6.24.0

The package includes the latest available North American navigation database for MMI 3G Plus:

Install the navigation database only after the K0942_6 firmware update has completed successfully.

North America map activation included

The required map activation is included.

After installing maps 6.24.0, run the supplied North American activation according to the included instructions. This enables the new navigation database and prevents a Map Blocked message.

A separate map activation product is not required.

Hidden Green Menu script included

The bundle includes a script for enabling the hidden Green Menu in MMI 3G Plus.

If the Green Menu does not open with the standard button combination, run the supplied activation script first.

Do not change unrelated Green Menu settings.

The recommended installation order is:

1. Confirm that the software train begins with HN+_US_AU3G_.
2. Verify whether the vehicle has Bose or Bang & Olufsen.
3. Connect the vehicle to a suitable battery charger.
4. Enable the hidden Green Menu if access is unavailable.
5. Open the Red Engineering Menu.
6. Start the HN+_US_AU3G_K0942_6 firmware update.
7. If the vehicle has Bose, deselect the Bose component.
8. Complete and verify the firmware update.
9. Install North America maps 6.24.0.
10. Run the included map activation.
11. Restart the MMI.
12. Verify the installed firmware and navigation database versions.

Complete and verify each stage before continuing to the next one.

Important installation requirements

During installation:

• Do not switch off the ignition or MMI.
• Do not remove the SD card during an active update.
• Do not interrupt the installation.
• Do not modify the supplied files.
• Keep the vehicle connected to a stable power source.
• Deselect Bose only if the vehicle has Bose.
• Bang & Olufsen does not require this exclusion.
• Install firmware before the maps.
• Activate the maps only after the navigation database installation finishes.

The complete update can take a significant amount of time. Start only when the vehicle can remain powered throughout every stage.
