HN+ systems were commonly installed in selected Audi A4, A5, Q5 and Q7 vehicles. This firmware is not suitable for HN+R, HNav, BNav, RMC, MIB or other Audi infotainment platforms.

This product contains the firmware update only. Navigation maps, map activation and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto activation are not included.

Open the Red Engineering Menu and check the software version displayed on the first screen.

HN+ systems were commonly installed in selected European versions of:

HN+ and HN+R are different systems

This distinction is important when selecting firmware:

• HN+ was commonly installed in Audi A4, A5, Q5 and Q7.
• HN+R was commonly installed in Audi A6, A7, A8 and Q3.

HN+_EU_AU3G_K0942 must not be installed on an HN+R unit. HN+R requires a separate firmware package.

Do not select the firmware using only the phrase “MMI 3G Plus”. Check whether the version begins with HN+ or HN+R.

Preparing the SD card

Do not place firmware files, navigation maps and activation files together on the same SD card. Each update must be prepared and installed separately.

We recommend using a Windows computer for file preparation. macOS can create additional hidden files on removable media, which may interfere with older MMI systems.

Before installing the firmware

Before beginning:

• Verify the complete current MMI version.
• Read the installation instructions from beginning to end.
• Connect the vehicle to a suitable battery charger.
• Use a reliable SD card.
• Insert the firmware card into SD slot 1.
• Do not switch off the ignition during installation.
• Do not remove the SD card while the update is running.
• Allow the MMI to restart when required.

A firmware installation may take approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on the starting version and the components selected for updating.

BOSE  precautions

Take additional care if the vehicle has a BOSE  audio system.

Depending on the vehicle and firmware update, the amplifier may need to be deselected in User Defined mode before starting the installation. This helps prevent an unnecessary amplifier software update and possible audio-related problems.
