Audi used several different infotainment platforms that are commonly grouped under the MIB2 name, but they do not all use the same firmware, navigation databases or map licences.
Before downloading an Audi MIB2 map update, identify the exact software train installed in the vehicle.
The most important prefixes are:
MHI2_
MHI2Q_
MHS2_
MH2p_
These systems require different map packages.
A map update should never be selected only by Audi model, production year or screen appearance.
Two Audi vehicles from the same year can use completely different infotainment hardware and therefore require different navigation updates.

MHI2 and MHI2Q – Audi MIB2 High Map Updates
MHI2 and MHI2Q are Audi MIB2 High platforms used in many vehicles including A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5, Q7 and other models depending on production year and specification.
Typical firmware examples begin with:
MHI2_ER_
MHI2Q_ER_
MHI2_US_
MHI2Q_US_
The letters after MHI2 or MHI2Q are important because they indicate the software family and regional configuration.
Do not install a map package only because the vehicle is described as “MIB2”.
Europe – MHI2 / MHI2Q P470 2027 Maps
The current European MIB2 High navigation database available for compatible MHI2 and MHI2Q systems is:
P470_N60S5MIBH3_EU
Version:
V03.959.821.470
Region:
Europe / ECE

Do not use the European P470 package on a standard North American MHI2_US or MHI2Q_US unit.
More information:
Map package:
Rest of World – MHI2 / MHI2Q ROW Maps
Rest of World navigation databases are different from both European ECE and North American NAR releases.
The currently available ROW package on MMIUpdates.com is:
V03.959.822.HM
433 ROW 2026
This package is intended for compatible MIB2 High systems configured for the supported Rest of World region.

Always check the exact country coverage before purchasing.
ROW map package:
MHS2 – MIB2 High Scale Navigation Maps
MHS2 is not the same platform as MHI2 or MHI2Q.
A firmware version beginning with:
MHS2_
requires an MHS2-compatible navigation package.
Do not install MHI2 / MHI2Q P470 maps on an MHS2 unit.
For European MHS2 systems, the currently available package on our website is:
P350_N60MIBSCALE1 ECE 2024
Map package:
A firmware and map bundle is also available for compatible European MHS2 systems:
MHS2 uses its own firmware, map database and activation method, so instructions intended for MHI2 should not be applied automatically to MHS2.
MH2p – Audi MIB2+ Navigation Maps
MH2p is another separate infotainment platform.
Typical European software versions begin with:
MH2p_ER_
Do not use MHI2, MHI2Q or MHS2 navigation packages on an MH2p system.
The current European navigation release is:
P0810
Map version:
Europe 2026/2027
We have a dedicated article covering this release:
MH2p also has its own firmware update procedure:
How to Check Your Audi MIB2 Software Version
Before choosing maps, locate the complete software version displayed by the MMI.
Depending on the system, it can normally be found in Version Information or the Red Engineering Menu.
Do not look only at the Media Driver version or Bluetooth version.
You need the complete software train.
Examples:
MHI2_ER_AU57x_…
MHI2Q_ER_AUG22_…
MHI2_US_AU57x_…
MHI2Q_US_AUG22_…
MHS2_ER_AU_…
MH2p_ER_AUG35_…
The beginning of the software train tells us much more about compatibility than the model year of the vehicle.
What Do ER, US, NAR, ECE and ROW Mean?
Audi infotainment systems and navigation databases are region-specific.
ER is commonly found in European or regional MIB software trains.
US indicates a North American software configuration.
ECE refers to the European navigation region.
NAR means North American Region.
ROW means Rest of World.
A different region does not simply mean that different map files need to be copied to the SD card.
Firmware, radio configuration, navigation licensing and other regional settings can also differ.
If the vehicle was imported from another region, a proper MMI conversion may be required before local maps can be used.
Audi MIB2 Map Licences and FEC Codes
Navigation database installation and navigation licensing are two separate things.
The MMI can contain the new map database while navigation remains unavailable because the appropriate map licence is missing.
MHI2 and MHI2Q systems use FEC / SWaP licensing for supported functions.
Codes such as:
023000EE
may appear in the licence information of compatible European MIB2 systems.
North American systems can use different navigation licensing, including the 023100EE code used with compatible NAR configurations.
Do not assume that one FEC code applies to every MIB2 system, region or navigation release.
The required licence depends on:
- infotainment platform,
- firmware train,
- region,
- navigation database,
- and current licence configuration.
You can check installed licences in the Red Engineering Menu on compatible MHI2 and MHI2Q units.
If a lifetime navigation licence is required for a supported MHI2 / MHI2Q system, see:
Do not use an MHI2/MHI2Q patch on MHS2 or MH2p unless the product instructions specifically state compatibility.
What Is 023000EE?
023000EE is a navigation-related FEC identifier that may be visible in the licence configuration of compatible European Audi MIB2 High systems.
It became a common search term because owners checking the Red Engineering Menu often see FEC values without knowing what they control.
The presence or absence of 023000EE should not be used as the only compatibility check for a map update.
Always verify the software train and intended map package first.
If your system has been patched previously, the licence configuration can also differ from an untouched factory unit.
Do I Need a Firmware Update Before Updating MIB2 Maps?
Not always.
Firmware updates and navigation map updates are separate procedures.
If your current firmware is compatible with the target navigation database, there is usually no reason to install another firmware version simply because a newer one exists.
Firmware may be required when:
- the target update requires a minimum software level,
- the system is being converted to another region,
- a required function is unavailable on the current firmware,
- or a specific activation package has firmware prerequisites.
For MHI2 and MHI2Q firmware updates, see:
How to Install MHI2 / MHI2Q Navigation Maps
We maintain a separate installation manual instead of repeating the full procedure on every map release page.
The guide covers:
- downloading multi-part archives,
- extracting map files,
- preparing the SD card,
- checking metainfo2.txt,
- starting System Update,
- using User Defined mode when specifically required,
- checking navigation licensing,
- and verifying the new database after installation.

Do Not Select Maps by Audi Model Alone
This is one of the most common mistakes we see.
For example, an Audi A6 can be equipped with MMI 3G Plus, MHI2, MHI2Q, MH2p or another infotainment configuration depending on generation, market and equipment.
The same applies to models such as the A4, A5, A7, Q5 and Q7.
For this reason, a search such as:
“Audi A6 2017 map update”
is not enough to determine the correct package.
Always provide the complete MMI software version.
What If My Audi Was Imported from Another Region?
An imported vehicle can still contain its original regional MMI configuration.
Examples include:
MHI2_US_
MHI2Q_US_
or regional ROW software trains.
Installing European maps alone does not perform a full USA-to-Europe or ROW-to-Europe conversion.
A region conversion can involve:
- firmware,
- navigation database,
- licences,
- radio settings,
- language configuration,
- and other MMI parameters.
For MIB2 region conversion information:
Map Update vs Firmware Update vs CarPlay Activation
These are three different procedures.
A map update changes the factory navigation database.
A firmware update changes the software running the infotainment unit.
Apple CarPlay / Android Auto activation enables smartphone integration on supported hardware.
Some bundle packages include more than one of these functions, but installing maps alone does not automatically activate CarPlay or update the MMI firmware.
Which Audi MIB2 Map Update Should I Choose?
Use the software train as the starting point.
If your version begins with MHI2_ER or MHI2Q_ER and the unit is configured for Europe, check the current European MIB2 High map package.
If it begins with MHI2_US or MHI2Q_US, use the North American compatibility information.
If you have an MHS2 system, choose maps specifically marked for MHS2.
If you have MH2p, use an MH2p navigation database.
If the vehicle is configured for ROW, verify the exact ROW release and country coverage.
If you are still unsure, use:
