Activate factory Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a compatible Audi MIB2 infotainment system without replacing the original head unit.

The activation package provides:

This product supports only the MHI2 and MHI2Q firmware versions explicitly listed below. Similar firmware names and other MIB systems are not automatically compatible.

What this activation enables

Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay provides access to supported iPhone functions through the original Audi MMI display, including:

• Apple Maps and other supported navigation applications
• Music and audio applications
• Calls and messages
• Siri voice control
• Compatible CarPlay applications

Android Auto

Android Auto provides access to supported Android phone functions through the original Audi MMI display, including:

• Google Maps and other supported navigation applications
• Music and audio applications
• Calls and messages
• Google Assistant
• Compatible Android Auto applications

Two USB ports are required

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto activation requires the vehicle to have the correct factory USB hardware with two USB ports.

The software activation does not add or replace the required USB hardware. If the vehicle has only one USB port, the activation alone will not make CarPlay or Android Auto operational.

Verify the USB interface before ordering.

Lifetime navigation map license

The activation enables a lifetime navigation map license for the supported MIB2 unit. This allows compatible newer navigation databases to be installed without purchasing another time-limited map license.

Navigation map files are not included with this product. The correct map package must be purchased or obtained separately.

European region conversion

The package can also be used as part of a supported conversion of a compatible MHI2 or MHI2Q unit to the European region.

The activation does not automatically include every file required for a complete regional conversion. Depending on the current region and firmware, compatible European firmware and European map files may also be required.

• Audi MIB2 High units using MHI2 firmware
• Audi MIB2 High units using MHI2Q firmware
• Only the exact firmware versions listed below

Check compatibility before ordering

Before purchasing:

1. Check the complete MMI firmware version.
2. Compare the complete version, including the MU number, with the compatibility list.
3. Confirm that the vehicle has two USB ports.
4. Confirm that you can access the Green Engineering Menu.
5. If the installed firmware is unsupported, update it before using the activation.

Do not select a version based only on a partial code such as MHI2_ER_AU57x. The complete firmware and MU version must match an entry on the list.

Green Engineering Menu access is required

You must be able to access the Green Engineering Menu, also known as GEM, before running the activation.

In some vehicles, Developer Mode must first be enabled using VCDS or OBDeleven. Follow the Audi MIB2 Hidden Green Menu activation guide if GEM is currently unavailable.

Do not place the order until you have verified that the unit is compatible and GEM access is available or can be enabled.

Installation instructions

The general process is:

1. Verify the complete firmware and MU version.
2. Confirm that it appears on the supported firmware list.
3. Confirm that the vehicle has two USB ports.
4. Enable Developer Mode if required.
5. Open the Green Engineering Menu.
6. Insert the prepared SD card.
7. Run the activation according to the instructions.
8. Restart the MMI.
9. Verify Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the navigation license.

Do not remove the SD card, restart the MMI or interrupt the activation while the script is running.

You will receive:

You need a computer, a suitable SD card and an SD card reader to prepare the installation media.

Prepared SD card

You will receive:

• A prepared SD card containing the activation script
• Installation instructions

The SD card is prepared for installation, but the activation must still be performed through the Green Engineering Menu according to the supplied instructions.

What is not included

This product does not include:

• Navigation map files
• Firmware updates
• Additional USB hardware
• A replacement MMI unit
• Wireless CarPlay hardware

The activation enables the lifetime navigation license, but compatible map files must be installed separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the activation permanent?

Yes. The activated CarPlay, Android Auto and lifetime navigation license remain enabled on the supported unit.

Are navigation maps included?

No. The product activates a lifetime map license, but navigation map files are not included.

Is firmware included?

No. If the current firmware is not listed as supported, install a compatible firmware version separately before running the activation.

Does the activation work with every MHI2 or MHI2Q version?

No. It works only with the exact firmware and MU versions listed on this page.

Does it work with MHS2, MST2, MSTD, MHIG, MHI3 or MH2p?

No. This product is exclusively for the listed MHI2 and MHI2Q firmware versions.

Are two USB ports required?

Yes. The correct factory USB hardware with two USB ports is required for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Do I need VCDS or OBDeleven?

Not in every vehicle. However, VCDS or OBDeleven may be required to enable Developer Mode when access to the Green Engineering Menu is disabled.

Can I order a prepared SD card?

Yes. Choose the SD Card delivery option if you do not want to prepare the installation media yourself.
